Nina Stipich

Director, Training and Capacity Development

Nina joined CHSRF in March 2003 to lead the development and implementation of the newly announced EXTRA program. Nina has extensive experience developing and promoting new initiatives, developing new research support programs, synthesizing research findings, drafting policy reports, and working with expert groups and panels. She has worked with diverse partners on challenging and fast-paced initiatives.

Prior to joining CHSRF, Nina was a senior policy advisor at the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), where she was responsible for major collaborative research initiatives, corporate strategic planning, international relations and ethics. In 1999, she was a member of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research transition development team, working closely with the Interim Governing Council on the transformation of MRC into the CIHR structure. In 2001, she led the development and launch of the Initiative on the New Economy – a five-year, $100-million investment in research supported by SSHRC in partnership with Finance Canada and Industry Canada.
