Geared toward teams of Healthcare Executives, the New EXTRA 14-month team-based fellowship offers a shorter and more focused training in better management and use of evidence for quality and performance improvement.

EXTRA training gives participants the skills and knowledge to become change agents in healthcare improvement. It offers unique opportunities for participants to conduct evidence-informed intervention projects in their organizations, with the goal of enhancing patient outcomes, quality of care and cost- effectiveness.

Led by prestigious Canadian and international faculty and practice leaders, the new 14-month EXTRA fellowships support teams in initiating and leading evidence-informed improvements in their own organizations, or across jurisdictions with multi-site teams and cross-boundary intervention projects. The program has five components:

  • A one-day orientation session
  • Away-from-home residency sessions (4 weeks in total over 14 months, spread over three sessions)
  • Intervention projects, supported by mentors and coaches and conducted at home organizations
  • Completion of online learning curriculum between residency sessions
  • Network-building
