Joint Training Awards

In 2000, $251,640 went to our Joint Training Awards from our Nursing Research Fund. The Joint Training Awards were an interim measure before the establishment of the CADRE Program (The Capacity for Applied and Developmental Research and Evaluation in health services and nursing - a joint initiative between the Foundation and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research). These awards are meant to increase the training opportunities for applied health services researchers and nursing management and organization researchers in Canada.

In 2000, a total of nine nursing researchers were funded by the Nursing Research Fund and the Joint Training Awards through partnerships with the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, the Canadian Nurses Foundation, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Fondation de recherche en sciences infirmières du Québec. Twenty-seven of the 1999-2000 joint training awards supported nurses at the Masters, Ph.D. and postdoctoral levels. No new Joint Training Awards competitions are anticipated.
